Reviews

A Beagle Named Carol is an emotional tale of trust, empathy and companionship that feeds the reader’s soul. Carol’s evolution and bond with her owner is beautifully woven through lyrical text reflective of her Irish roots. Carol’s justified human mistrust transforms her human in healing ways that could not have been anticipated. “Carol’s” gift is the melding of two hearts that so desperately needed rescuing and the trust and love embodied in us all. A perfect read for children both big and small.

I read “A Beagle Named Carol” to my third graders. The book is a great example of themes such as showing compassion, empathy, and kindness. My students were inspired by Cathy Schenkelberg’s style and her details based on a true dog rescue. After our connection with Carol, we have aspiring authors in our classroom!

I got this package in my mailbox at school this morning and I didn’t have time to open it until I got home just now!! I just read the book you sent me! You are so thoughtful and know me so well! My tears of joy!!! The book makes me miss my babies so much, but it is a beautiful story so wonderfully written!! I love¬† the book itself, but the fact that you contacted the author and she signed it for my class and sent me a beautiful card! I love you girl!! You have a heart of gold! Thank YOU from the bottom of my heart!
