I read “A Beagle Named Carol” to my third graders. The book is a great example of themes such as showing compassion, empathy, and kindness. My students were inspired by Cathy Schenkelberg’s style and her details based on a true dog rescue. After our connection with Carol, we have aspiring authors in our classroom!
